The final edition of the Brad and John show has it all – local news, a called bluff and Brad’s final on-air meltdown!

John begins with the top three local stories from today’s johncombest.com: a highway death involving an e-bike; MoDOT’s work on Manchester Road in St. Louis County; and Mark Maxwell’s heated discussion with Cori Bush regarding a guest May Day speaker.

In B Block, John summarizes a St. Louis Post-Dispatch story regarding high value land for sale near Premium Outlet Malls in Chesterfield. John offers Brad a whimsical pop quiz: what happened to Mid Rivers Mall staples Max & Erma’s and Pass Pets?

After the literal fun and games, the discussion takes a manic turn. Brad references the recent success of the show, then mocks John as the “Cher of Sonny and Cher.“ Brad refers to himself as “an anchor” and “a burden.”

Recognizing the frequency and severity of Brad’s recent on-air crashouts, John suggests he and Brad chat off air about what’s fueling today’s meltdown-in-progress. Brad declines the offer, then threatens to end the show altogether on Friday.

Brad lashes out over John’s “bragging” about the show’s recent upturn in quality. Brad threatens he’ll make John “go out on his own” – to plan, produce, and broadcast (?) the show without any help from Brad.

John calls Brad’s bluff about quitting the show, and John thanks Brad for the 2 1/2 years on air. With the ultimatum gambit ineffective, Brad throws up a Hail Mary – threatening to end the show today instead of Friday. John again offers to talk Brad through his emotions off air.

Brad stalls with a series of non sequiturs regarding the KMOV television digital history, and John gently redirects the conversation by again expressing his gratitude to Brad. With his bluff called, Brad signs off the air for the final time at 8 a.m.
